Sorry for the short delay in getting this out this week, I have been out the country and the Internet wasn’t as good as hoped, will be back to Monday evenings as normal next week on.
Last week wasn’t the week we were looking for last week, with a most uncharacteristic showing from Dustin, I was very confident going into the event, and have no real idea why he played so badly! We were fortunate not to draw a blank, taking advantage of SkyBet and PaddyPower offering top 7 places, and Stenson duly obliging. As I have mentioned in the past, and I know a few are still asking, it is very important to have a good shop around when backing golf selections, what I put up in my articles is just a current snapshot of the best odds on offer, however, I would always personally look to sacrifice a little bit of fractional gain for the advantage of the extra place money to keep things moving forward – so do have a good look through oddschecker yourselves before placing to see what you’re happy with. 1/4 odds or more places for example…
With the majors over for another year, many of the games top players will look for a rest, before planning their assaults on the FedEx Playoffs, but their is still plenty for us to be interested in when you scratch beneath the surface. Please see below for this week’s selections:
Travelers Championship (PGA Tour) – 11 pts Outlay
At TPC River Highlands, 6,841 yards, par 70
NAP – Branden Grace 18/1 (BetVictor) 2.5 pts EW
Been playing very well recently, and came close at last week’s final major, and will be keen to finish the season off well having already won on tour earlier in the year. Positive vibes also came flowing out of his post round interview, with Branden saying he is hitting the ball as well as he can remember. He likes this golf course and is sure to go close if his putter can start behaving like the rest of his game.
NB – Martin Laird 80/1 (BetVictor & BetBright) 2 pts EW
IWAC – Tony Finau 90/1 (BetFred) 1 pt EW
3M Championship (Champions Tour) – 11 pts Outlay
At TPC Twin Cities, 6,765 yards, par 72
NAP – Wes Short Jr 33/1 (SkyBet & Ladbrokes) 2.5 pts EW
Performing really well statistically this year, Wes also posts a good record at the 3M championship, with a top ten finish as recently as last years event. His play caught my eye at the recent Senior’s Open at Carnoustie, and a performance anything like that will see him go close at nice odds of 33/1.
NB – Kevin Sutherland 30/1 (Bet365) 2 pts EW
IWAC – Tom Lehman 33/1 (SkyBet, Ladbrokes & BetFred) 1 pt EW
*MULTIPLE* – Branden Grace (Travelers Championship) & Wes Short Jr (3M Championship) – 578/1 (SkyBet & Ladbrokes) – 1.5 pts EW
