Wednesday - 

2:00 Redcar - (Nursery)

Noted juveniles: Sir Walter. 

Big price but may show more at this level. 

2:10 Goodwood - 

Noted juveniles: Setting Sail, Mt Augustus & Voice Of The North. 

Three nice juveniles here.

2:30 Redcar -  (Nursery) 

Noted juveniles: Situation & Bee Machine. 

A couple of rogues. Situation is capable on his day while Bee Machine, who cost 50,000G, has proven very disappointing. Both huge odds so you are hoping for improvement which isn't beyond the realms but you need a leap of faith.   

2:40 Goodwood - 

Noted juveniles: (Best entered of these) Billesdon Brook.

A class filly who should win at prohibitive odds. 

3:00 Redcar - 

Noted juveniles: Al Hajar.

Another talented juvenile who hasn't shown yet. This looks a fine opportunity but short odds. 

5:40 Kempton - (Nursery) 

Noted juveniles: Tony Soprano.

Has found his level and Martyn Meade places his horses well. 

6:10 Kempton - 

Noted juveniles: Nicklaus & Corrosive. 

Both horses are held in decent regard and I expect this pair to run very well. 

* Note: Please remember nursery races can be unpredictable but may reveal big price opportunities. They should be considered as speculative. If looking for best bets stick with the maidens/stakes races. 

Saturday's Racing Tips (26th August)

1:35 Goodwood - 

Noted juveniles: Kareva.

Note: Charles Hills two-year-old has been knocking on the door and holds respectable claims. 

2:05 Newmarket - 

Noted juveniles: Mashaheer & Betty F.  

Interesting: William Haggas' Mashaheer was fancied on debut but disappointed. This colt was earmarked for the Gimcrack (Group 2) and I suspect will show much more today. From a statistical point of view, holds decent each-way claims if prices allow. Betty F could go well for Jeremy Noseda. This homebred daughter of Frankel looks to be one of the better hopes for the stable. If starting favourite I would take that as a confident sign. 

5:10 Windsor - 

Noted juveniles: Prince Maurice, Bint Huwaar & Lamya.

Interesting: Prince Maurice has a significant entry but doesn't look to be one of the stable stars. Would hold greater claims if price 8/1 & less SP. Bint Huwaar is worthy of note. George Peckham doesn't have a huge string of juveniles but this daughter of More Than Ready is held in high regard. She cost $1000,000 at the 2yo breeze up sales and a couple of Group entries give some confidence. Could well have each-way claims. Lamya ran well on debut and held in some regard by connections. Looks the horse to beat but I wouldn't jump in at short odds especially if these two in opposition are strong in the market.   

5:25 Redcar - 

Noted juveniles: Benadalid & Mistress Of Venice.

Note: Mistress Of Venice is a talented filly who has been racing at a high level. This is a major drop in class and unless she has regressed, looks a stiff horse to beat. Benadalid is considered 20lb inferior to this talented filly on official ratings. He is a battling type but carrying a penalty will make life tough. Holds claims but may need the filly to disappoint to prevail. 

5:55 Redcar - 

Noted juveniles: Elysee Star.

Claims: Ben Haslam doesn't have many juveniles in his stable but Elysee Star is a professional two-year-old. She has run well on both starts to date and connections considered her for the Convivial Maiden at York. This auction race is probably her class but she has a fighting chance of victory.

Wednesday 2nd August 

Busy so not going to look too far afield today. 

2:00 Redcar - 

Stormbringer is well regarded and ran a sterling race on debut when beaten by a talented, experienced horse. A bit of a skinny price considering there are a few decent types in opposition. If loftier plans are to be taken a win will be needed here. 

6:55 Sandown - 

Interesting how few horses John Gosden has given significant entries this year. In fact, Westerland is the only two-year-old as yet which suggests he is held in high regard. A disappointing effort at Royal Ascot. This son of Frankel has to shoulder a win penalty which makes life harder. A short price but another horse who needs to go well here to justify a return to pattern class.

1:55 Redcar Racing Tips (17th July) RACINGUK.COM BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 7f on good to firm going. Thirteen two-year-olds take part. I will just highlight a few here.

Richard Fahey knows how to train a two-year-old debutante and he may have a live wire here in the shape of Andok. This son of Elzaam cost £60,000 when purchased in April at the Doncaster breeze-up sales. I've heard a good word for this colt who has been catching the eye on the gallops and looks to have fair each-way claims.

Michael Dods has been a bit up and down with his juveniles this season but always worthy of respect with runners making their racecourse bow. King's Gift races in the familiar silks of Geoff & Sandra Turnball. This chestnut son of Casamento cost 55,000G at the yearling sales and worthy of note. 

Mister Moosah is one of few juveniles trained by Micky Hammond. This Irish son of Clodovil was purchased at the breeze-up sales for £34,000 and ran with credit on debut at York. He slightly disappointed next start on soft going and may be capable of betting at big odds. 

Simon Crisford has really made an impact with his juveniles this season, with a good number winning on debut, if not going well even in defeat. He is a trainer who definitely places a lot of emphasis on horses being fit and ready to go well on their racecourse bow. Poet's Charm is a son of Poet's Voice and costing 95,000G at the yearling sales. He runs in the Saif Ali colours. A horse I would expect to go well and one I have heard glowing reports. 

Mark Johnston has been in tremendous form all season and Sofia's Rock is another who has a good reputation for this first start.  This son of Rock Of Gibraltar and cost 100.000E at the yearling sales. His full brother, Prince Gibraltar, a dual Group one winner and class horse,   was sold at four for 1,350,000E. This bay colt has recently been entered to run at Stakes class which adds to the confidence. 

Conclusion: For a northern maiden this is a hot race with a few fair juveniles. I can imagine three or four trainers come here thinking it should be a straightforward affair but that looks far from the case. Sofia's Rock is exceptionally well bred and if starting favourite has to be respected because the Kingsley House stable have a very good measure of their juveniles. A recent Stakes entry does bring additional confidence. Simon Crisford has been in blistering form with his two-year-olds and I know the stable like Poet's Charm. Andok is well respected on the gallops and from a trainer who primes his juveniles to go well on their racecourse bow. A watching brief.
