Kameko Fired-Up for Epsom Derby

Few horse races capture the heart or mind like the Epsom Derby.

This historic race has seen the most successful horses achieve greatness and write their names in the rich tapestry of thoroughbred horseracing.

So what is so different about this year's race which takes place on the 4th July at Epsom Downs, Surrey?

Get ready for the off on Saturday at 4:55 because Andrew Balding will not only be hoping his three-year-old colt can win the biggest race of this trainer's life but emulate a success which goes back to 1971 when Ian Balding (father) won with the exceptionally talented Mill Reef who proved an almost invisible thoroughbred over his career.

Kameko has raced just five times in his career but already bagged two Group 1 races and one of the favourites to win the Epsom Derby after a hard-fought success in the 2000 Guineas on the 6th June.

Andrew Balding could well be smiling all the way to the winner's enclosure come Saturday and tipping his hat to his father who did the same notable act back in 1971 with the legendary Mill Reef.

Good luck to connections.
