Quotation Of The Week – How Patient Are You In Battle?

First a quick reminder of what the Quotation Of The Weekaward is all about:

The idea is simple: Every time I find a quotation that I think will add real value for my blogs readers, I will bookmark it and put it on my list to be the: Quotation of the Week.

I will then write a post similar to this one explaining why I have decided on that particular weeks Quotation.

I will also link to it from my Quotation of the week icon situated near the top of my side bar
My Quotation of the week award will be posted every Weekend.

For a full list of previous winners visit my ‘Quotation Of The WeekPage.

This week’s winner of my ‘Quotation of the week award is:

"To lose patience is to lose the battle."

Mahatma Gandhi

Simple and concise as the quotation above is, please do not be fooled by its simplicity!  To my mind it is probably the most powerful quotation for the aspiring sports speculator to remember.

I believe that without possessing the SKILL of patience it is impossible to be profitable in our chosen pursuit.  The reason that I have highlighted the word skill in the previous sentence is that I believe that just like any other skill, patience can be learned and perfected.

I hope you have enjoyed this post
Stay patient

  1. Mark,

I agree that patience is paramount. I remember a very successful Wall Street trader once told me and a quote "Emotional control is 90% of success in any speculative endeavor." I have lived by this quote ever since.

  2. Hi Jake

    Thanks for great comment.

I think we all realise how important patience is and how simple it should be to commit to.

I have found however that the markets seem to have many sneaky ways of weakening our resolve!!

    Thanks again

  3. Mark,
I would agree that the markets pose daily threats to a sound working plan. Currently I am guilty of overbetting on profits and this will be rectified with my parlay plan dictating wager amounts.
