Lay The Field Fourteen Day Trial – Day Thirteen Result

My Blog post of the week two weeks ago described a method of laying the whole field in a horse race so that you would profit if at least two horses reached the lay price you set.

Before I start today’s round up,  I would just like to thank Scott Ferguson of the Sport is made for betting  blog, for originally posting up this method and bringing it to our attention.

I was so impressed with the concept that I decided to do a fourteen day trial where I would pick one race a day to put the method into action.

Today was the thirteenth day that I have had the time to put the method into action and as you can see from the screen shot above, it was a winning day.

I decided to set my lay odds at 1.33 again, so that if I did win I would be paid out at odds of nearly two to one.

I decided that I would try a contrarian approach and experiment with a race profile that I have not tried so far whilst doing this trial; The race that I took on was the 14:40 at Stratford, which comprised of a handicap chase over a distance of 2 miles 1 furlongs. There were 6 runners in the race and the market was fairly open, bearing in mind the small field, with the favourite being priced at 9/4

My logic was that it would be worth experimenting with a small field as there are occasions where the race can become a tactical affair and with no horse making the running the race could become more of a sprint at the end which could then lead to anything happening.

The race did not go according to plan with a fairly fast pace set from the off. The race changed though when the favourite fell a few fences from home, this meant that all of a sudden two main contenders were left  to battle it out.‘Up to the Mark’ won the contest, however second placed ‘The darling boy ‘ battled valiantly and traded as low as 1.32 thus ensuring another profitable day.

Trial Summary

Number of bets: 13
Number of bets matched: 12 (one voided bet due to Betfair site problems)

I hope you enjoyed this post
