Cheltenham Festival 2011 My Free Eachway Tips Results and A Warning!

What I cracking Festival topped off  by a stunning gold cup race that will live long in my memory .

As you can see in the screen shot above my free eachway tips did very well at the festival, with the overall profit amounting to a return of 5.12 points based on an outlay of 5 points worth of bets (ROI 102%).

One point I would like to raise as a word of caution, is that I had to constantly resist the temptation to get caught up in the hype of the event and have; 'Just one more bet'.  These sorts of pressures can be subtle but extremely powerful and I would imagine that there must have been a lot of punters who were sucked in and over bet on races that they knew very little about and stood very little chance of finding value in. This of course is just what the bookmakers rely on!

Fortunately I won the Cheltenham festival battle with the bookies this time, but I know that we as sports speculators must not let our guard down for an instant, for they are a very capable and cunning adversary.

I hope you have enjoyed this post
Stay patient

  1. Excellent week for you Mark and spot on regards the one more bet syndrome. A 102% ROI is not to be sniffed at.
A lack of discipline is why many punters lose, including myself in the past - start chasing, doubling stakes etc. The last week, was the first time in nearly three weeks I actually had a bet, but I made sure every bet was well researched and placed well before the off and from then on I didn't have any more. It was handy that a few won and I didn't want to start chasing but it's very important to have that discipline and I'll be honest I've not had it previously.

  3. Hi Mark

Well done with your selections at Cheltenham ,nice profit over the four days.

Totally agree with your comments, most punters seem to over bet at Cheltenham, placing far too many bets on races that are incredibly difficult to find any real value.

    Keep up the good work

  4. Hi Lonesompundit

    Thanks for the comment.

It is easy to talk about discipline but as we battle scarred veterans know only to well, actually following trough with our actions is a completely different ball game.

For me now; how disciplined I am is more important than my results. Just like you I have chased in the past and with just the same results.

Great to see that you acknowledge that you have had issues in the past because I believe that with out tackling our demons head on we will not progress.

Also good to see that you had a profitable time.

  5. Hi Jerry

    Thanks for the comment.

I agree, we all have types of races where we can compete with the bookies and if we decide to take them on in races we know little about there will only be one winner!!

I can vouch to the above from personal experience :-(

Keep up the excellent work on your blog.
